Study vibes only: Where to find focus on campus
There is something about finding the perfect place to study – where concentration becomes a little easier and deadlines seem a bit more manageable. Whether you’re craving quiet corners to focus, roomy tables to spread out with group work, or a cozy nook to escape into a book, Lee has a study spot for every mood and moment.
We’ll cover traditional picks, unconventional finds, and tips for choosing what works best depending on how you study. No matter if you’re a night owl, early bird, solo studier or group collaborator, by the end you’ll know where to go to hit your academic stride.
The Library
William G. Squires Library is a popular study spot for many students. The three floors of the library offer a variety of amenities. Every floor has study rooms available for booking through the library website with dry erase boards, TVs, and power access. Dry erase boards are also available throughout the library. Supplies like markers and erasers can be checked out at the front desk.
While the noise level on each floor differs, there are tables available without reservation on all floors in the library and study nooks tucked within the third floor bookshelves. The library noise levels are quiet and no talking. The main floor and first floor maintain a quiet noise level while the third floor merits no talking from its patrons.
The library is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-12 a.m.; Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday 12 p.m.-8 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m.-12 a.m.
The PCSU
For those looking to socialize while they work, the PCSU is another place to study. The PCSU has tables on each floor for student utilization as well as a two computer labs on the main floor. The third floor tables have dry erase boards and TVs available for use. While there are places to study in the PCSU, it is frequently busy and a louder work environment during the day.
The PCSU is open from 8 a.m.-12 a.m.
Student Life House
Often overlooked, the Student Life House is a great place for students to complete assignments. While the house is a hub for commuter and transfer students, it also offers study spaces upstairs and a conference room available through reservation. It can be found across from Conn Center, open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Lee doesn’t limit students to inside study spaces. The Ped Mall has tables and chairs throughout the year. The Communications Arts Building and the Humanities building also offer patios for students to use. Outdoor spaces are first come first serve and are often popular during the warmer months. Another popular study spot is the Forum. The bell tower’s two levels are filled with tables and chairs for student use.
While academic buildings are often used for class rather than studying, students can utilize empty classrooms and lounges. Classrooms can be reserved by emailing roomreservations@leeuniversity.edu. Academic buildings operational hours will vary.
Lee’s campus has a plethora of spaces and resources available for students to succeed academically. Find your perfect place and let the studying begin.
